Monsters - “Those Orange Books!”

Published by zombieralphvamp22 at 12:26 pm under horror Edit This

Thanksgiving is next week, and it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving in the New York area without King Kong (or even Godzilla). That’s why this reviewer will remind everyone about the challenge to view King Kong at noon next Thursday!

It is Thanksgiving weekend that this reviewer watches the movies that were part of this short-lived tradition and even looks back at the old books that were in the school library - paying special tribute to the films of Kong and the King of the Monsters. One such series of “movie monster” books was the Crestwood House series published in the 1970s. They are easily recognized by their orange covers and a picture of the mighty King Kong on that back of every book.

The series dealt with the classic monsters, as each book profiled a particular and prominent character. Monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolf Man received their own books. It Came from Outer Space and The Murders in the Rue Morgue stood on their own. However, it is Godzilla and King Kong that hold a special place in this reviewer’s collection.
